PROJECTS

We're currently working on a rage of exciting Social Media Projects for our super cool clients including FACT, The British Film Institute, The Health and Safety Executive, Institute for Knowledge Transfer and more... We'll tell you about them here. We have completed an eclectic range of work over the past few years; too many projects to mention them all. Our previous work includes a 'open ringtone' platform allowing anyone to turn their compositions into ringtones, the ever popular Lotto Widget for MacOSX, as well as a whole host of technology consultancy projects, blog implementations and web work. But the current stuff is pretty exciting too.... We're currently working on....

Kisky works with Holidaybreak Plc

Kisky Netmedia has begun working with Holidaybreak Plc to explore the potential of Social Media to extend community development opportunities for their Camping Division. Holidaybreak creates camping experiences for customers and we're providing research and strategy development services which will enable Holidaybreak to enhance the ongoing community aspects of their camping offering.

Working with Wikis

Liverpool John Moores University School of Sport and Exercise Sciences has engaged Kisky Netmedia to develop a wiki project. The project will see the school adopting a wiki to create deep interaction and collaboration opportunities between staff and students. The wiki itself will foster collaboration across topic areas, and enables students at different levels in their careers to work together. We began by running student technology workshops exploring how students really use the Internet. (You'd be surprised!) The project involves needs analysis, selecting an open source platform, configuring the wiki, and developing content strategies. Our core area of work on the project is in helping the school to develop strategies for adoption and assessment.

Culture 2.0

We're working with FACT to explore how Web 2.0 technologies have given rise to 2.0 concepts and principles which, the web aside, can radically change how we all do business, specifically in the cultural and creative industries. In addition to this core project were also championing the Culture 2.0 ethic and will soon be launching a new collaborative think tank, bringing together forward thinking cultural leaders.

Intercultural Cities Conference

We'll be unconferencing the conference! Kisky has been asked by the Intercultural Cities team to run an open track at the conference and use a Conference Social Network to get people really talking. We'll also be running a blog and helping conference delegates to blog their experiences.

A Knowledge Transfer Conversation

The Institute of Knowledge Transfer is a growing organisation leading discussion and promotion of Knowledge Transfer. As part of its work it attracts a growing number of Knowledge Transfer experts, and this diverse group is about to embark upon a blog 'conversation'. We've been working with IKT to attract a group of bloggers; to help them define a route for holding, extending and promoting a KT conversation. This project will raise the profile of the Knowledge Transfer community online. www.iktblog.com

tenantspin2.0

We've worked with FACT for many years and continue to enjoy working on challenging projects across web and social media, video, media art, and media strategy. Our latest project is to deliver a new 'website' using purely social media, free and open source platforms. Whilst we did of course write a little code, this project is an example of how a great web presence can be built using Wordpress, Flickr, Upcoming and other social media apps. We are soon to extend this project to help tenantspin recover over 600 hours of video broadcast content and deliver it in a new '2.0' way - (we'll be using Google Video). Visit the new tenantspin website.

Knowledge sharing with Pageflakes

How can a large team of professional developers and designers (The Online Team) at a large UK public sector organization share knowledge and help each other keep abreast of the latest web design and development trends, issues and standards? We've devised a pilot project that lets this group share bookmarks, and subscribe to the latest feeds - all using free online platforms. We've been experimenting with ma.gnolia to let the team share bookmarks and with Pageflakes to make sure they all stay up to date.

Tourism 2.0 Research

We recently undertook a research project into Tourism 2.0: who's doing what, what's working, and what are the emerging trends? We undertook research into the sector and created an overview of the social media opportunities for destination marketeers for New Mind; a leading destination platform provider. Some ideas that came from our research are detailed on Katie's blog.

The Bold Street Project for FACT

The Bold Street Project is a FACT (Foundation for Art and Creative Technology) commission that takes a Liverpool street and puts it online. Everywhere online. We were asked by artist and curator Alan Dunn to bring Social Media to Bold Street. We used a blog, Flickr, Upcoming, YouTube, Google Video, and video and audio podcasts to put this Liverpool street online. We worked with online audiences to create new content which in turn was fed back in to this high profile exhibition. The project was about using Social Media tools to create online audiences, and opportunities for global collaboration in a project with a local focus. We also used an Apple TV to power the exhibition; innovating in exhibition technology. The project demonstrates new thinking in arts marketing and creative collaboration.

Emerging Technology at Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service

Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service is an award winning innovative Authority. The service sees Youth Engagement and Social Inclusion having a direct result in cutting the number of fires in the community. Kisky is working with the Fire Service to devise and deliver a series of pilot projects that can enhance Youth Engagement work. OurOpenSpace is a blog that will develop and support the Youth Engagement community of practice and will disseminate the Fire Service's research and learning in using Emerging Technology and Social Media. Other pilot projects include a SMS system to be used with young people, and a project working with Fire Service volunteers using mobile technologies to capture, record and monitor fire hazards.

Social Media Sessions at British Film Institute

We were asked by BFI Southbank's Artistic Director Eddie Berg to talk about Social Media with some of the BFI's team. We developed seminars for the creative team and showed a range of our tips and tricks; how to promote events using Upcoming and Flickr and how to get started using blogs and podcasts. We're happy to report a number of new blogs are now online as a direct result of our seminars.
